Minnesota Avenue Pedestrian Plaza | Bend, OR

SZABO was commissioned by the Downtown Bend Business Association (DBBA) to develop visual concepts for converting a section of Minnesota Avenue into a pedestrian plaza.  The block sits between the downtown parking garage and the pedestrian breezeway, leading to iconic Drake Park which sits on the river’s edge.  The concept included creating open café-style seating, restaurant seating, large shade trees, local revolving art displays, a central fountain and fire feature, and a stage platform.  DBBA envisions the plaza be utilized for local restaurant seating, artists, community events, and nightlife.
